Churchill Road

This highly original home is cherished by an international family that lives in Vermont. Thunder Mill designed and constructed this beautiful home over two decades ago, and has modified and added to it over the years. The personality of the house was inspired by Nantucket style architecture: grey shingles and white trim create a simple, yet elegant, design. Details, color and materials have been carefully designed and crafted throughout the house to bring comfort and beauty to all who experience this special space.

Horn of the Moon

Overlooking the spectacular fields and forests in East Montpelier, this wonderful family home features a custom designed and hand crafted ‘Kiva’ fireplace room off the kitchen, a commanding pergola off the dining room to provide summer shade, a super cozy reading nook with a legitimate porthole window, and a beautiful copper adorned woodstove fireplace. The clients were looking for a classic open design that highlighted the views down the slope to provide a special new home for their small family. This was one of our projects published in “The Nook Book”.

West Hill Road

This home is a hybrid post and beam / wood framed structure that takes advantage of the bucolic views from the site. Thunder Mill worked on all aspects of this home, from the trim design to the lighting design to the range of colors and materials throughout. We find inspiration from the warmth and grandeur of the main living space, especially in combination with the shady porches and gable end details. The juxtaposition and contrast of warm and cool really makes this home come to life.

Dog River

Thunder Mill Design was commissioned to realize the client’s vision: an octagonal floor plan design. The inspired result is a beautiful home with incredible design details throughout to stay cozy in Vermont winters. Designed to be welcoming yet private, the structure is dedicated to providing extra-special common spaces that bring friends and family together. Gathering around the hearth, taking in the beautiful light in the greenhouse attached to the kitchen, and standing on the extraordinary second floor balcony that wraps around the stone chimney are some of the experiences Thunder Mill created.
